“Vroooom, Vroooom”, the sound of
motorcycles racing through an 80-mile stretch of asphalt roads and highways,
all competing for the best hand of poker and raising money for an even
better cause.
Saturday August 9th, Red Knights Pennsylvania Chapter 24 and Messiah’s
Discipline Motorcycle Ministry will be hosting a Poker Run in order to raise
money for the Special Olympics.
Registration will be held the day of the poker run starting at 11:00 A.M. at
Shenango Township Fire Hall, with intentions to be on the road by 12:00 P.M.
The price to enter is $15.00 for the rider and $10.00 for the passenger.
The route will begin at the Shenango Fire Hall then down to Lutz Leather in
Ellwood City, up through Mercer Road going to Zelienople, Route 19 past
Dairy Queen, to the Harley Davidson store, then through New Wilmington and
Volant.
August sunshine and heat should be in the forecast for the bikers and one
thing is for certain—nobody wants rain.
“We hope for nice weather of course”, Anita Jones, event coordinator, says.
All bikes are to be back at the fire hall no later than 4:00 P.M. There will
be prizes given away for the best poker hand and for the best bike.
After the run is over, there will be a buffet dinner, Chinese auction, 50/50
drawings, and the Sweaty Betty Blues band will perform. All proceeds will go
to the Special Olympics. |
