The young star that has brought so many in the
community together for the good of helping him battle his rare disease, Gavin
Myers, was in with the noodles as a pasta dinner was held Sunday at the
Wurtemburg Perry Fire Hall. The benefit event began at 11:00am Sunday morning,
but with lines quickly forming, seats going fast, and spaghetti being served
even faster, the event that was scheduled to last until 4:00pm was called short
because of the spaghetti completely selling out. Many in attendance came after
their church service and with big appetites, buying a plate “for the love of
Gavin”
Gavin Myers is the infant son of Rick and Shannon
Myers of Ellwood City who most recently was brought home from Round 3 of
chemotherapy for Neuroblastoma, a rare
form of cancer. Gavin and his family also received a surprise last week at
Children’s Hospital when member of the Pittsburgh Penguins, including Sidney
Crosby, stopped by to visit. (http://helpbabygavin.wordpress.com/events/)
Many area businesses sponsored the benefit event
that also had tickets drawn for Hines Ward and Troy Polamalu jerseys. For more
information on upcoming events, including a Cash Bash in March, and how you can
spread the love for Gavin, visit his website at
