Drop or Stop - It's up to you
Saturday, February 27, 2010

9:05 AM - You may remember it as Four Star Pizza, or maybe a newer generation remembers aged office buildings, either way, a new establishment has opened in the building across from the Post Office on the corner of 7th Street and Center Avenue in Ellwood City.

Drop or Stop Laundry Depot officially opened for business yesterday, and they are more than prepared for the dirtiest of clothes.

This laundry mat has 32 ultra high efficiency “express” machines, including 15 commercial-grade washing machines 17 high powered dyers.

The term express has much to do with the time it takes to wash and dry, but not much to do with lack of quality.  Washing and drying is faster, but clothes will be cleaned similar to, if not better than, typical washers and dryers.

“An average customer [washing 2-3 loads] can be in and out under an hour,” said Tony Gennuso, owner of the brand new Drop and Stop Laundry Depot.  “I remember when I was in college; I hated waiting hours for my clothes to be done.”

The new laundry mat also has a “wash and fold” service where they will have your clothes washed, dried, and folded or hung up in 24 hours, all for $.99 per pound.

“This is much faster than most dry cleaners who take 2 to 3 days to finish your dry cleaning needs,” said Gennuso.

Gennuso has owned the building location since 2000, but didn’t move into Ellwood City until last year.  Before last year, he and his family lived south of Pittsburgh in Peters Township, PA.

When Gennuso purchased the building, Four Start Pizza had been long gone and offices maintained the location.  After much renovation, the laundry mat was ready to be put together and opened.

Although there are still some tweaks to be made, such as the addition Wi-Fi and televisions, the laundry mat is now open 7-days a week from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
